Using Magic

To see what spells you have, you type "spells" for the listing.

To see what spells are available to your character, type help magic(4) and then the number of your profession. It will tell you all the circles available to you, and how many you can take at the start. At 15, another circle becomes available, then another at 30 and another at 50.

For example: help 4 2 will list all the circles available to bards of which they can learn 3 right away.

This does not mean the bard can use all the spells that he learns at the get go. He must be of the level of the spell to use the spell. So a bard at level 3 will be able to use the vedic spell vp03 – Foresight, but not the vedic spell vp05 – Glimpse.

Type help, magic(4), spells(1), and the circle to see what the spells in that circle do. For example – help 4 1 10 will list the Via Fas Sani spell list.

Spells are taught by different means. Some are taught by lecturers at the Lyceum in Kaezar and in Koje, some in treehouses, some in temples, some in what appears to be a deserted building, some are learned just listening to nature. The player must seek out the way to learn his/her spells.

To use your spells, you prepare the spell, then cast it. For example: prep ap01, cast.

The spell will tell you if it is not self-cast or needs to be cast on something.

For example:

prep ap01
You prepare a spell.
Your spell is ready.
cast
You gesture and utter the magic words, "Min Ars Arm."
This spell will only work on inanimate objects.

Whereas a self-cast spell looks like this:

prep ap03
You prepare a spell.
Your spell is ready.
cast
You gesture and utter the magic words, "Av Ars Ent Min Mal."
You are enveloped by white motes.
In addition to the protection of the motes, you also feel like you could run a marathon.

Spells can be cast on other players as well. Experiment and have fun.
